Check Your Page
Version 3.2, August 15, 2000
This tool provides guidance for determining how accessible your website is for people with disabilities, based upon the work of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Currently, only publicly available web pages are available to the analysis tools. We are examining the feasibility of an approach to provide this capability for internal (Intranet) pages, and will keep you apprised of this effort.
If you just submitted a page, you'll find it below, sorted in alphabetical order by the Test Title field. The menu at the top of the page provides links to additional resources, such as a Gallery of websites that meet certain levels of accessibility benchmarks.
Recommendations For Using the Tool
1) Enter a short Test Title (one or two words) and the URL for the site you want to check on the form linked below.
2) After submitting the form, you'll be returned to this page, which provides a temporary holding area for submitted Check Your Page requests.
3) Save the page locally to your hard drive for future reference by selecting the File/Save As... option from your browser's menu after you've selected the link to shorten the URL. The Test Title field you entered will be the default choice for the file name. If you're working with a single file, saving to the Desktop is most convenient; otherwise, you may want to consider creating a separate folder.
4) Run each of the applicable automated tools from the links provided on your page analysis below and print a hard copy of the report or save them to your local drive as well, since this will provide a baseline for your work.
5) Have people with disabilities review your site, early in your improvement effort, and whenever you are making significant changes.
6) After making accessibility improvements, run the analyses again and compare the reports.
